Just realized how much I miss everyday office small talk - working remotely consists mostly of zoom meetings, but having those hallway conversations + water cooler gossip and check ins with coworkers about things unrelated to work are so important for overall workplace happiness
Y’all nobody said we think Joe Biden is our lord & savior, we’re just excited a dictator Cheeto man who almost ruined our country is no longer in power. We can celebrate his departure while knowing the work still needs to continue - let us have a moment of rest + joy
A reminder that Black Lives Matter is a movement, phrase and organization. People who act like the organization itself or movement in its entirety is responsible for a very small handful of people who loot vs millions who’ve organized peacefully are trying to divert + distract
Dr Kimberle Crenshaw isn't harassing other women into giving her money because they talk about Intersectional Feminism, because feminism is not owned by anyone. Its collective liberation. It's communal empowerment. This is none of that. This is self serving.
@Leahtommi I don't marginalize anyone and I don't cry over those who enjoy feeling marginalized.
Pushing your far-left ideology into environmentalism is the thing that harms Nature. Don't pretend that you care about Nature when you only want to feel righteous.
why is environmental justice not environmentalism to you? That's like saying conservationists shouldn't push their "far left animal advocacy messaging" into environmentalism. They are intertwined, human's choices can impact the planet, animals and other people.
@Leahtommi The highlight of my week was putting together an amazing friend with a diversity superstar in my own company to chart a new path of diversity with a holistic view including HR policy, EJ and Title VI. The discomfort felt is the breaking of the door to a world of amazing people.
this made me smile :) awesome work Darren!!
A lot of environmentalists are expressing their frustration for being "forced" to be an intersectional advocate + consider racism + other forms of bigotry now that enviro. justice is becoming more commonplace - but I find that frustration really misguided and hurtful.

Listen to Leah. The more I do this work, the more I realize that we couldn't have exploited the planet to the extent we have without systems of oppression. And we won't be able to stop exploiting the planet unless we dismantle the systems that got us here.
Lastly - know any discomfort you may feel for being called to learn about systemic inequality is likely much less than those who are actively facing environmental + social injustices daily. Discomfort is a part of learning, don't let it make you cynical or jaded. Just get to work
So - do you HAVE to suddenly uproot your environmentalism + take a deep dive into systemic racism? No, you don't HAVE to. But what kind of environmentalism are you participating in if it only advocates for a better future for wealthy + white people? What about justice for all?
I think we need to have a conversation about individual vs collective movements and weaponising progressive language for very personal gain. Because it’s effecting folks on a broader scale and it seems like people have forgotten what doing the work should actually look like.
